Weighing only five pounds, the cute island fox was once thriving on the Channel Islands off the coast of California. But after the arrival of the golden eagle, its population started to dwindle. The species is now federally listed as endangered, having been hunted to near extinction. Today, recovery programs that relocate golden eagles are bringing the adorable furry foxes back from the brink.
