Meet the Olympic Gold Medalist from Flint, Michigan
In 2012, 17-year-old Claressa “T-Rex” Shields became the first woman to win an Olympic gold medal in boxing. But even Olympic success did not guarantee sponsorships or endorsements. This short film picks up with Claressa in 2015. Still in her hometown of Flint, Michigan, she finds herself at a crossroads with a difficult decision: to stay and be with her family, or to leave her home, her gym and everything she knows in pursuit of her boxing career.
This film is a follow-up to the feature documentary “T-Rex,” directed by Zackary Canepari and Drea Cooper, now available on Vimeo (https://vimeo.com/ondemand/trex). We made this in collaboration with Victory Journal.
