Hard Times for Roughnecks: The Critically Endangered Hooded Vulture
Hooded vultures are personable little birds—only slightly larger than crows and unafraid of humans, they were often found in the villages and towns of sub-Saharan Africa. We say “were” here because these vultures are now critically endangered; a huge *80 percent* of their population has declined over the last three generations due to hunting, poisoning, and natural habitat degradation.
